Founders’ Message
Education can have a tremendous impact on an individual, a household, and a country. It enables people to improve their lives and the lives of their families.
Often in developing countries, problems with education arise from a lack of critical resources. I experienced this dilemma first hand as a US Peace Corps volunteer in the Republic of Kiribati. For over two years, I worked as a teacher and supported the educational efforts throughout my community. Many of these efforts were hindered simply because there were no books, paper, or writing utensils available for students. Similar to elsewhere in the world, the people of Kiribati strongly value education and see it as a means to improve their well-being and the well-being of their families. However, without the provision of necessary tools such as education, the development of the people of Kiribati will continue to be severely afflicted.
I founded For Granted to help disadvantaged children all over the world overcome the significant adversities they face and gain the education they desperately desire. In recognition of the abundance of resources in developed countries, For Granted builds links between communities to share supplies and funds with those in need through educational and related development programs. In supporting these programs, you can help to improve the education, opportunities, and lives of children throughout the world.
Sincerely,
David Sokoloff
