For Granted is actively raising emergency funds to support the people of the Kibera area of Nairobi, Kenya. Kibera is the largest urban slum in Africa with the majority of residents living in extreme poverty, earning less than $1 per day. The people of Kibera consist of the world’s most vulnerable population and help is urgently needed during this dire situation. COVID-19 is spreading rapidly through Kibera as people struggle to obtain clean water for cooking and basic hygiene and are unable to self-isolate or physical distance themselves due to severe overcrowding.

100% of the funds raised go directly to support Vijana Amani Pamoja (VAP), an registered NGO based in Nairobi, Kenya. VAP is a local organization run by volunteers dedicated to improving health and education in their community. VAP volunteers are currently risking their lives to distribute water and hygienic supplies to help the people of Kibera.

Please donate today to support this effort.

VAP Scholarship Program

For Granted is also working to promote children’s rights through education with VAP. The organization uses the curriculum developed by Grassroots Football to encourage children to think critically and creatively, while pursuing their education. For Granted has worked in Kenya since 2008, when we had the opportunity to visit Vijana Amani Pamoja and developed a partnership enabling disadvantaged children to attend school.

Kenya is in great need of educational support and programs like For Granted’s Scholarship Program, because of the numerous development challenges the country is facing. Currently life expectancy is only 48 years and 60% of the population lives on less than two dollars a day. However, progress towards universal education for Kenyans is improving, with school enrollment up 2 million over the past 10 years. These progressive steps in the field of education are making these children leaders of change and progress for future generations. With your help, For Granted hopes to extend and expand our scholarship program.

Bethel Orphanage Education Program

India

The Bethel Agricultural Fellowship, an organization established in 1963, adopted a mission to empower positive change in the community through education regardless of caste, creed, or religion. Bethel is located in the village of Danishpet in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Bethel Agricultural Fellowship supports its mission through a variety of programs that include: a baby rescue home established in 1989 to save babies from falling victim to female infanticide, a children's home that cares for disadvantaged boys and girls, a matriculation school for pre-kindergarten through 10th grade, and a hospital providing medical care to Bethel and the surrounding community.

For Granted assists the Bethel Agricultural Fellowship to help improve the lives of these children and provide them with greater access to quality education.

Belize City Program

Belize

In 2010, For Granted started a program in Belize with the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. Together we are sending educational shipments to support early childhood education efforts in the Belize city. Belize is located on the Caribbean coast, between Mexico and Guatemala.  It is home to historic Mayan temples and many other land and sea attractions making it a popular tourist attraction. However, it also faces significant challenges. One out of every three people in Belize live below the poverty line. For Granted is working to help education the children of Belize to help them in their future.
